Getting to Know Yourself Through Others
It’s been a week since I’m back from reservist. And it has not exactly been a period I’m proud of.
Work-wise, it’s piling up once more. That, I can handle.
Managing people’s expectations, and in the process, having to come down hard on people, has been happening over the week.
As I look at myself, I wonder if this is karma for all the shit I’ve pulled on my co-workers over the past four years. And when I look at my current co-workers, it also gets me thinking if I was just like them four years ago. All fresh, eager and ready to pounce on the job, without holding back and at times causing friction among others.
Truly, as you look at others, you tend to reflect on what you were, what you’ve become, and what you can be in the near future.
I’ve always said that comparing yourself to others will serve no practical purpose. But at times, you’ll have to look at others, before you can get to know yourself better. And in the process, make yourself a better person.
