Good Tidings
The last few months have been a perpetual whirlwind, mostly related to work.
But thank fully, there have been moments that really made me smile, and warmed my heart to no end.
In July (wait, was it June? Damn it, lost track of time), another good friend just became a Dad. Somehow, this new development in his life really brightened my day, especially more so given how badly he needed this to have some semblance of a normal life beyond his crazy work schedule.
On Saturday, another good friend will be getting married. It also marks the third time I’ll be a jie mei (bridesmaid). Well, technically, it’s the second time, since I became Kato for Mrs Au’s wedding last year. In my defense, I’ve been a groomsman for seven times, with an upcoming one in November. Thus, I’ve fulfilled the pay-it-forward criteria. So it’s time to enjoy the fun, on the other side.
The joy of shopping to ready myself for the wedding, and the opportunity to deck myself out in a fancy suit is such a fulfilling experience. Hopefully, the crazy crowd at H&M would have died down by now, allowing me to shop in peace during my day off. With a few more errands to run, it’s going to be a crazy weekend.
Ultimately, it’s all worth it. The excitement of seeing my friends moving on to the next phase in their life is priceless. The exhilaration of the preparation process, leading up to the actual event, is such an adrenaline rush.
