From Greater China, with *Burp*

The long break has finally arrived.

After the long and bumpy (so bumpy, that the lady sitting beside me actually vomited when we were landing, urghh) flight to Beijing, I was greeted with one of the foggiest and hotter cities in the region. So foggy, that you can’t even see the horizon in the day. -_-

The first day was all about relaxing. A little unpacking, followed by dinner at an “atas” fusion restaurant with really healthy food filled with green tea (no wonder it’s called Green T House), prompted for another round of meat eating with some of the Singapore media folks.

Of course, work starts on Monday, real early. Had to wake up at freaking 7am, and took the ride to the Nokia China Campus. Truth is, the visit was pretty interesting. If anyone wants to read about it, here’s a little shameless plug.

Followed by, what else, more Chinese cuisine. Eat and eat and eat, at the Mei Mansion.

And then Forbidden City. It’s been more than a decade since I stepped foot into this place. Lo and behold, nothing much has changed. Well, maybe it looks much smoggier than it used to.

Now, what would a trip to Beijing be without Peking Duck? But then, it wasn’t really that fantastic. Sad thing is, it was work time, and that was the pitfall for the trip, given that I only slept at 2am and had to wake up at 7am again. *Sigh*

Day 2 at Beijing – It was presentations, interviews, and more interviews. Damn the stupid greenhouse-style design for the Nokia building, everyone was feeling the heat. And again, more food. I gave up, and just skipped dinner to rush back and get work done. I ain’t going to do work when I’m in Hong Kong, I told myself that. But I did treat myself to a nice round of full body massage (decent one, not the dodgy one). Sadly, I slept again at 3am, and had to wake up at 4:30am for the airport transfer. Once again, WTF.

And that’s the end of the Beijing trip. So, what am I doing here, blogging when I’m in Hong Kong? Because…

China blocks so much sites. I can’t Twitter, Facebook or Plurk. WordPress is a no-go too. But more importantly…

When I reached Hong Kong, after an afternoon of shopping and having some wanton mee, I knocked out from 6pm to this morning 8am.

Say it again – WTF!

Time to hunt for the sunglasses, more T-shirts and maybe make a visit to the toy shop to get stuff for colleagues.

Oh well, at least now I’m recharged. Ready to eat myself senseless for the next two days!
