To the Nyan Nyan Frontier!

The Macross Frontier OST – Nyan Furo is officially released.

I’m going to indulge myself a bit with a whoop-ass of otaku geekiness in the moe fashion.

My personal take: I decided it’s worth the time for me to actually discuss about an OST. And frankly, I think not many will really make sense of this blog post, but I feel like a lean mean writing machine right now (yeah, weeks of writing in the office till 10 plus does get to you).

Ok, back to Earth. The magic of the OST is actually found in the first three songs by Sheryl Nome, dubbed as the On Stage version. Basically, Yoko Kanno made the wise move in mixing the actual track with an overlay of audience cheering and clapping to the beat as what one can experience during a live concert. More importantly, the three songs (namely Welcome to My Fan Club, What ’bout my Star and Iteza * Gogo Kuji Don’t be Late) were so tight in the transitions, it brings an element of a fast and furious beat to the concert that you will be experiencing.

Of course, not forgetting the young and budding Ranka Lee, as sung by Nakajima Megumi. Her renditions of What ‘Bout my Star and her very own Aimo tracks brings a very fresh spin to the fast-paced songs as heard on Sheryl Nome’s (sung by May’n) tracks.

Yoko Kanno is once again in her element with her other background tracks, which has been heard on and off over the span of the anime up to its 9th episode. Tracks such as Big Boys and Private Army provides a very strong and gung-ho theme, with a tint of military backgrounder that’s part and parcel of the space opera theme of the Macross universe interspersed with the pop culture songs.

In short, I <3 this OST to the [Infinity] – By Sheryl Nome
